Another person from EastSideHigh has admitted to being part of a complex drug trafficking scheme on the dark web.
Allante Pires, aged 25, confessed to helping make, distribute, and sell drugs like MDMA, Ketamine, and Alprazolam. Pires, along with Binh Thanh Le and Steven McCall, operated under the name “EastSideHigh” on the dark web, selling illegal substances.
The investigation into EastSideHigh involved federal officers intercepting drug shipments, using various surveillance methods, and even posing as customers to buy drugs from them on dark web marketplaces.
The investigators began looking into EastSideHigh in June 2018. They tracked drug packages, watched suspects, and communicated with the group while undercover. They also purchased drugs from EastSideHigh on different dark web platforms.
Once they identified the suspects, investigators tracked their movements and even placed GPS devices on their vehicles. They intercepted packages meant for the suspects and found drug-related materials at locations they frequented.
In February 2019, an undercover agent learned that EastSideHigh wanted to exchange Bitcoin for cash. The agent then contacted the group, pretending to be a money launderer.
In March 2019, inspectors arranged to meet with Le at a hotel to exchange Bitcoin for cash. After the Bitcoin was sent, law enforcement entered the room and detained Le. They found Pires in the hotel parking lot and detained him too.
Later, police searched an office connected to the suspects and found large quantities of drugs, cash, and equipment used for drug production. They also discovered incriminating evidence on laptops.
Le has been sentenced to eight years in prison for his role in the drug operation. McCall’s case is scheduled for a plea hearing in June 2022.
The investigators also found a music video linked to individuals involved in the case, which featured scenes filmed at the suspects’ office space.
